Made in Japan, c. 1930

This vividly hand-painted vintage Japanese bowl dates to c. 1930.  It captures the joyful spirit of the Art Deco period with such brilliant color and cheerful floral design.  It will be greatly used and appreciated as a centerpiece or serving bowl.  If you love color, this will put a big smile on your face!

It is in amazing condition! Brilliant red poppies encircle the bowl. They are hand-painted in stunning cadmium red with black centers, surrounded by lively shades of green foliage. The matte exterior  highlights the interior of the bowl that actually glows with iridescent gold luster.  The colors are truly magnificent!

Accompanying the bowl is its original matching flower frog, designed as a partially opened poppy blossom. It is reversible, offering two slight configurations for arranging fresh flowers. 

The bowl may be used, of course, without its frog, in a multitude of ways.

The design has a rich palette with the reds, greens, and gold which also makes it especially attractive for seasonal decorating.

It has a red backstamp, with bird, readingn "Hand Painted – Made in Japan."

Condition

Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. The set appears to have seen very little use.
